This is too soon.

I'm not even eighteen. I'm not a legal adult. I shouldn't have experienced all of this. Not so young. I was too young to be taken from my home at night, too young to have aliens targeting me, too young to have my brother get kidnapped on my behalf. And I'm still too young to have so much responsibility on my shoulders. I can't stop the invasion all on my own, even if I have the Avengers on my side. But they'll only get in the aliens' way. They'll just be collateral damage. Nothing will stop everyone from dying, except for me. If I hand myself over, everything will go back to normal. For everyone but myself, that is. But I have to, don't I?

They won't let me do it. They won't let me give myself up. But I have to. There's no other way. It's the only way to save everyone. To save Barton. He's not... He's not like he used to be. He's changed. He's cold. And I don't know why. And it worries me.

This is all my fault. Surrendering won't do anything because there's no way the team will let me go so easily. No, there's only one thing for me to do. What was it that Loki said...?

I'm too young. Too young to be making decisions like this. Too young to have so much weight on my shoulders.

I'm too young to die.

Y/N Y/LN has been part of the Avengers since the start, she's battled against Loki, Ultron and Hydra. Now the team is her family and everybody loves her. One day the whole team disappears for a mission, half of them come back the next day, two weeks later the rest of the team, minus one. No one wants to tell her what happened. Steve Rogers, her best friend, comes back three whole months later, with a new guy: Steve's childhood best friend Bucky. That's when she finds out that her family has been in a Civil War, all because of Bucky. Tony still can't see past the Winter Soldier, but Y/N can't help but see the broken man full of pain and empty of memories. - For the sake of my own sanity in this story Infinity War and Endgame do not happen. Also Pietro didn't die, Asgard did not get blown up and Loki is an Avenger. Scott also is an Avenger so let's pretend Cassie and her mother and the Pym family all live in New York :) - "You shouldn't be here..." he says quietly. He's still avoiding your question, so instead you ask "Why not?" "I could hurt you..." he says in a small, sad voice that breaks your heart. "Would you hurt me?" you ask. He frowns and almost immediately says "of course not" still very quietly. You give him a reassuring smile and say "Then I'm not worried." he finally looks up at you and gives you a small smile. - This was my first story so I'm sorry if the writing is not too good, I'll get better I promise. Also, English is my third language but I try my best, if you find mistakes feel free to point them out. - #38 in avengersfanfiction 01/08/2024 - I do not own any characters except for Y/N and any other character of my creation, all the rights belong to Marvel.

Let's say you had the power to save everyone you've ever cared about and more. Let's say that you could have a do-over every time you lost, every time you messed up, every time you missed something. Let's say that you could have another try anytime, but you had to die to have it. At first, you're happy about it; nothing can stop you. "Just one more time." Then, after a few times, it gets old. Your joints ache and you're tired, and no one around you knows why because you're the only one that remembers. "Just one more." Eventually, you want to give up. You know what death feels like, now, and you've experienced it far too many times than any person should. But now you know everyone by name, by eye color, by voice, by the sound they make when they drop to the floor. You can't just leave them to fend for themselves. "Just one more..." You're done. You've had it. You cry into your pillow, wondering if the curse will ever end. You've lost count of how many times you've tried again. Then you think of those people you had tried to save; they would die without you. You would have blood on your hands. So you pull yourself together and put on a smile. You pretend it's the first time, and you walk through the door like the future is ahead instead of today. And then you say, "Just one more day." "One more day."
