The Eastern Front is a graveyard of nations, and Roman Sorokin is a soldier of the Soviet Red Army, raised to destroy those who threaten the Motherland. Across enemy lines, Katalina Bremen, a German nurse, is taught that the Soviets are beasts-merciless and inhuman. But war is not as simple as black and white. When Roman and Katalina meet in the ruins of a burning village, they see each other not as enemies, but as two lost souls-bound by fate and torn by duty. Yet their love is doomed from the start. Their fathers, Viktor Sorokin and Adler Bremen, are not just soldiers. They are rivals, commanders, sworn enemies-men who would rather burn the world than see their children together. But war does not forgive. It does not wait. And when the final betrayal is revealed, one will be left standing in the snow, whispering the name of the one they could not save. "Some loves are meant to defy history. But history always wins." Roman & Katalina
