A narrative/ essay on a beach cleanup I attended while I was in high school. One use plastics are a detriment to our environment. There have been recent studies that have showed that microplastics can now be found inside of humans. How far are we willing to go just for convenience? We need to take better care of our environment and the living things that exist within it. Otherwise we may just end up with another Venus or Mercury, an uninhabitable lifeless rock drifting through space. This essay shows that even when people think they are helping the environment, there is still more that could be done. They are superficially cleaning and not dealing with the potentially more hazardous small pieces of trash that are impacting our environment. Even then, we need to deal with the root of the issue and dispose of waste more responsibly and use more reusable items.
