A few personal experiences with oil spills, and plastics in the ocean, combined with graphic imagery turned into a work for #planetorplastic and am honored to have a random chance to write for National Geographic! These are my 500 word submissions for the contest.
I just joined this app other day, and it's been super inspiring since I joined! I'm thankful I decided to try my hand at this contest! I used my personal experiences, photography, research and general knowledge to write this work.
I would have more of my own photos of the red tide I saw in 2016, had my phone not inconveniently broken after I took the first two photos you see in the work, of Destin, Florida.
[All photos I did not take are from the basic searches on google I did for "red tide, Destin Florida 2016" "Irma debris 2017" "The Florida Keys", and "realistic fractals" The ones that are not mine are in the news already, or science websites, and I do not claim the photos in any way. Hoping, I can use them for this little project to help with a cause bigger than myself that really needs the attention.]
