A nice house in a nicer town. No one suspected a thing.

Lloyd Jones had it all: His dream job researching biology at his former university, the perfect house and the perfect family. A wife whom he adored and his 'little ray of sunshine' in a grey town, Samantha Jones.

That was until a hit and run accident took that all away from him.

With grief, depression and an unhealthy need to prove himself to his deceased wife pushing him in his unstable state of mind on the edge, Lloyd comes up with a plan - A creation.

Before he was released from his research facility with an 'unstable condition', him and a hand selected few of scientists were working on a project. A modified and advanced version of the civilisation of today, yet something that was never supposed to happen. Genetic modification for humans  has been talked about for years now, and these scientist were working on making the talk reality. This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Merudoxin. Hearing that word should have made everyone grimace at the thought. It should have filled their body with pure anger to see women everywhere rave about the new drug; to see its name plastered all over the news. They told us it would make labour painless. They told us it would revolutionize childbirth. The only thing left to do was to test it. On us. Women everywhere were lining up at their local hospitals just waiting to get a taste of the drug. Conceitedly, they signed their names. Everyone was hoping the medicine would work. It was to be a major science breakthrough! But no one ever promised that the babies wouldn't get hurt. No one seemed to care about the endangerment of their lives. That's where I came in. A voice for the voiceless. I would never let a life be wasted, even if my own life became at risk. **Sneak Preview** The doctor took the baby in his hands and took a look himself. I heard him take a sharp intake of breath. "Bloody hell!" he exclaimed. "What should we do with her?" the surgeon asked. "We're going to have to get rid of it" he announced simply. I whipped my head towards Arturo. I began getting up, trying to end this tyranny but Arturo held me back and that's when I remembered where we were, who I was carrying inside me. I cried quietly as I watched the woman scream and whimper as she realised the fate of her child. And the fate of herself. The surgeon wheeled her inside a door followed by the Doctor with the baby. "You can't do this to us! Give me my baby!" she sobbed helplessly until she said in a quiet voice, "Let me hold her once". The doors closed before I could see if they fulfilled her last wish. They said that "Changing is part of LIFE.", at least that's what the CSD (Change and Save Department) used to say. They thought they created a "cure". A cure to save many people's lives from sickness, cancer, and all. Unfortunately... They were wrong. It was fine at first... However, their first test subject? It was for no good. Instead of a cure, they made a "virus". The virus is incurable for now. Many people protested against the CSD and the government. It changed.. but it was never saved... They said that once they bit you, in an hour the virus will spread throughout your body and kill you, then you'll be alive but not like you used to be. There are many survivors, but there are also many who have been turned into monsters. They call these monsters, "zombies". The CSD promised that they'll find a cure, but much-lost hope, lost hope for being alive, lost hope for survival. A 17 yrs. the old girl was in between that. Everything might sound and look horrible but she never lost hope for survival. "I'm running out of food.." she kept on talking to herself since there was no one but her. She saw a grocery store nearby so she checked it out if there were food, and fortunately, there was. She stuffed the food in her bag until she heard something. "Is someone there?" She asked, she hoped it wasn't what she thought about but there it was. The zombie's legs were twisted so it will have a hard time catching her. However, she never encountered that close. She stuffed the last food in her bag and ran. She ran to the girl's restroom. When she opened the door there were zombies! It almost caught her but fortunately, nothing happened to her. She ran back but there were more! "Please don't say this is how I'm going to die!" She said to herself. Is she going to die? Who will she meet? Will they survive this cruel world?? they had recently broke up before he move to berlin to take on the job of a engineer, he had wanted her to move with him but she refused to and said it was over, she had just finish her studies to become a doctor and was planning on opening up her own community hospital, she didn't want to move for it was her dream and she wasn't going to fulfill her dreams no where else but in her town, while there in Berlin he met someone and soon got married and he and his wife adopted a son, after the contract of six years were up he decided to move back to Philadelphia and start up his own engineer company, he had only move back a month before he ran in to his ex girlfriend overwhelmed to see that like him she has move on with a child, a man and was once again pregnant, he had gotten married and adopt but he still haven't move on completely his life was in complete and lost for if she had move on to that point there was no hope for them getting back together again, he later learn that there was some rather compromising issues in her relationship and after some investigation he learn that she has done insemination to get pregnant and that there's a possibility the girl could be his, with this information he stop at nothing until all the pieces were put together!
