Briar's brother, Atlas, goes missing in the dead of night the night before his wedding. It is said that dragons came in the night and took him, but Briar doesn't believe it. She knows there is more to this than anyone is letting on, so in an attempt to get her own answers, she climbs up the Fire Mountain. She is told an oracle lives at the top, but instead she finds a city of dragon riders and dragons.
