"I prove my point. You don't want this. You think you do because he told you you do. I won't help you fall until I know you really want to." He starts to stand, but Atarah reaches for his arm and pulls him back down with her angel strength. He wasn't expecting it at all and his eyes widen at the action.

She pulls herself to sit on his lap, her wings surrounding the both of them protecting them from onlookers and her own fear of being rejected. They gave her the confidence she needed to get through this. Her hands rest at the base of his neck as she peers into his green eyes. His hands automatically rest on her thighs.
"You can read my thoughts. You always have. You know exactly what I think of you now. My heart barely beats unless I'm around you. I need you, and I know there's some part of you that wants me."
Lucifer grips Atarah's thighs harder at the proclamation.
Lucifer sits silently for a second as he reads Atarah's thoughts to see if she's genuine or not. He can feel her fear but her confidence at the same time. Her thoughts are conflicting but he hears one that helps her argument stand a little taller-

"I never thought I would do anything like this; I've always held back this side of me. It feels like I was finally following my own desires."

A story in which an angel must realize if her destiny is worth falling for, and if making a deal with the devil is really as bad as it seems.

"I'm not going to hurt you," he growls in my ear, "Neither am I going to hand you over to that Bastard." I flinch at the anger in his voice and confusion rushes through me. "What?" I squeak, attempting to get air into my constricted lungs. He sighs, the warm air brushing against my neck, sending goose bumps skittering across my skin. "I'm not going to tell him you intend to escape. How can I when I plan to do the same thing?" My mind whirls as I attempt to understand what he is saying. He wants to escape? But he is one of Lucifer's most trusted. How does that even happen? He's lying. "I'm not lying. I needed him to trust me or I would never find a way to get out." "You know a way out? Wait. Did you just read my thoughts? How did you just read my thoughts? I thought you were a shield!" Once again his sigh of exasperation leaves goose bumps on my skin and a shiver running down my spine. "I am a shield. It just so happens that I'm a reader too. Yes, that is possible. Obviously. Now can I let you go, or are you going to try and kill me again?" © 2013 by Froggie27. My Dear Charlotte

20 parts Complete

"Why should I trust you?" I asked him, shivering as we stood tucked away in our own little shadow. He was standing much too close for comfort, his body heat working like a furnace to warm me up. I was almost tempted to press my fingers to his chest to see if they would warm that way, but didn't dare touch him. "I don't need your trust, Charlotte. At least, not yet." He said, a self-assured tone lacing his voice. "But I'll have it soon enough. Once you see what I have to show you, you'll not be able to leave my side." What would you do if the Devil claimed YOU...? Charlotte Young has been nothing for her entire life- she blends into the background, at least in her own mind. But with her stunning looks and fiery nature, she's been gaining more attention than she bargained for. When she suddenly meets a handsome stranger who swears he has some sort of dark claim on her, her world is turned upside down. Dealing with boys is no walk in the park, but throw in a possessive King of the Underworld, a dozen demons, more angels than you can count, and an enemy on the rise, Charlotte has a recipe for disaster. Somehow, someway, she will find a way through.
