This story takes place on a transportation space ship on which the cargo is people. It takes place in the future people have overpopulated and now live on numerous planets including earth. The ship consists of 6 sets of crews that take turns staying up for 6 months at a time. Each crew consisted of 2 men an engineer, and a commanding officer. Both have a basic training of weapons and medical training. There is one medic awakened for only extreme emergency's such as loss of limbs.
