Ever wonder where your dreams go when you wake? Imagine if they drifted off, coalescing with the dreams of others to create a constantly shifting realm of imagination and memories.
That is the realm that Shade the Scarecrow and Cole the Wanderer set off to explore. What begins as a simple research expedition escalates into a fight for survival and revelation.
                                                                       ----------------------------------
This is a work based on a D&D campaign I ran with my friends for 4 years (though it is not a "campaign journal"). It's part of a series of novellas I wrote for my players to let them know what their characters are up to. Naturally this means that it was written with the intent that the reader was already familiar with the world. I have done my best to adapt the story for new readers and included footnotes for lore that does not outright speak for itself.
If you enjoy this, consider going to my main blog (taleofchampions.wordpress.com) where you can read the appendices and see new chapters early.
Thank you for your time.

To Quinn, When you read this I'll be over at Zen's place for a couple days. Just letting you know that I have shared a part of my journal publicly. I mean in the online world. Be aware that I've only used your first name, but others have been named. Some of our actual conversations were recorded in this journal. I guess sort of like a book even though writing isn't one of my better strengths. Buddy, that keychain you gave me changed many things. I began sharing this in July and I made my last post early on New Year's Day. You'll be happy to know that the plans for the new center are locked in the safe. I look forward to working with you in this new year we find ourselves in, and please forgive me for telling tales out of school. Your friend, Ash So now that the description is out of the way I can break that fourth wall. The idea for the description was recommended to me by a very good friend since I didn't know how to describe this journal which took place in real time. Dark Matter is a chapter of a much larger work titled "Chronicle of Rouge hill' which I've been writing since I was a teenager. I had started in early 2009 and quickly shelved it in 2010 after I saw "Inception", realizing the ideas were too close. It was picked up again in October of 2012 when I realized what it had to be: less focus on the technical aspects and jargon, and the addition of a love interest. Also, the mission of the "Order of ravens" was changed simply to collecting dream tech. All ten parts were written during the period of October 2012 to March 2013. The idea was to begin posting it on blogger.com in July and it would end in real time, on new year's eve. The events of my real life have indeed influenced the writing. It should be noted that errors in sentence structure are deliberate. A.P.L ©2013 Andre Lalonde. All rights reserved. Painting by Tom Park. Used by permission "Chronicle of Rouge hill"

Lost in Darkness

37 parts Complete

"Suddenly, I found our faces so close together, I could feel his warm breath caressing my face. It smelt slightly of mint, and an undercurrent that was all Cole-pure masculine goodness.I breathed in deeply, my eyes briefly fluttering closed. God, since when did he smell so good?" Raven has lost everyone. Her mother and twin sister died, her father left, leaving her in alone in the world with powers that she barely understands. All that Raven has left is Cole, her best friend. When a dangerous enemy resurfaces intent on killing Raven, Cole swears he will do all he can to protect her. As the two get pushed closer together, will their combined powers be enough to save them? Will Raven be able to stop her heart from shattering to a thousand pieces? *** Please keep in mind that this is a first draft, and is, for the most part, unedited. I know it's not at its best, but I'm working on it... "Wow, I am so hooked!" "You captivated me from the start..." "The storyline seems very original..." The above were just a few of the comments I received... :) As you can tell, this is also a romance as well as paranormal/fantasy :) hehe Laura__Zalenga owns the right to the picture in the cover...
