A Castle Of Crystal
Nothing in my life had ever made sense. They told me it was normal, I'd grow into who I was supposed to be, that things would get better; here I am now, going through the motions and wondering if this was really what I was destined to do for the rest of my life. Turns out, it wasn't. Nothing in my life had ever made sense but that was because my memories were fractured, pieces of a person I used to be, one I used to know lurking in the shadows of my dreams. I was just a normal guy trying to navigate the world but saying yes to everything and falling into the same monotony just wasn't cutting it anymore. I had a steady job, a pretty girl seemed interested in me and my 22nd birthday was coming up just before Christmas to give me something to look forward to. That all changed when I remembered her. I'd never forgotten her truly, blue was the only thing I knew and that Neptunian shade was so striking it stuck with me from the night she screamed at me in the rain but it wasn't until I found all the papers, the notes and crystals that I started to remember the world she lived in. One that wasn't my own and that had so much more to offer. It sounded crazy but I knew it was real and getting there, finding her and fixing the bridge that I'd unwittingly burned was going to be hard but I was ready to be more than a desk jockey typing my life away. I wanted to see the orange skies instead of the blue and find her sitting in a field of crystals again, staring at the stars.Concluída

A Swing in the Park
It was the summer of 1976 when my father left us. It was a particularly memorable summer and my mother suffered terribly. My father had left her for a younger woman and moved into her apartment which was above a flower shop where she worked. My mother struggled making ends meet and got a job as a nursing assistant at Peaceful Haven, an old folks home that still exists although it is very badly run down now. Because she could not afford a baby sitter, my mother took me to work where I sat in the lounge and watched TV and read books. On her lunch breaks she took me across the street to Faulkner Park where she made out with Fred while I wandered around eating my sandwich. But I quickly grew bored. I was 8 then, a bright young girl with an active imagination. I imagined doors in the sandbox, swings into the sky, doors to another world. And in the rooms of the old lost souls were more doors only waiting to be opened. I took those souls with me on my adventures and eased their loneliness and age with my contagious eagerness to believe anything. And then a terrible thing happened to me, so terrible I could not speak of it. I was in hospital, unable to believe anymore and my old friends came to visit me and to believe for me. I am 30 now, and as I write this and look back I wonder if I still believe. And yes, I do. Believing got me through that summer and believing got my father to come home again.Concluída

I had to leave my world behind after finding out the truth of what I was and train as hard as I could. There were people after me and my kind and I wasn't sure how to stop them. How could I protect so many and lead a brand new life myself? How do I prevent war with the world? And how will I ever be able to resist Liam's charm when every fiber of my being pulls me toward him? The supernatural isn't a myth anymore, they are real and I'm one of them. And now the whole world is after us. Note: This can be read as a standalone but you can read Taken first if you want.
