Atrophy

Set one millennium from now; This short story observes a dystopian future where the ocean has become seemingly inhospitable, and the air itself is toxic due to PD (Particulated Dioxides). This new form of toxin was birthed when global warming, the death of the coral reefs, the emissions of melted plastics, and the aftermath of World War 3 culminated in what is known as The Final Vexing. This is the Earth in its final moments.
