Avery Miller is as dull as a 26 year old with a grown up job is. After a failed marriage, and in the middle of a divorce, she's hanging on by a thread to keep herself in check.

But then the next door neighbor is murdered, and to add up to the mess, she witnesses the escape of the suspect.

The homicide then drags the intense and attractive detective Blake Carter to her front porch. And Holy hell.

Blake Carter, a homicide detective for the Miami Springs Police, wants to solve the case that brought him to Avery's door, and quick. Anything to get away from the frustrating, yet impossibly beautiful woman that's may just be his key witness. After Afghanistan and his honorable discharge, he thought he had life figured out. But tragedy strikes and he loses his wife, something that unsettled him and drove him to keep women as far away from him as possible, the fear of hurting them still too fresh.

That's until he meets Avery Miller and all bets are off.

Blake has an unsettling past and Avery might just be the person that can help him overcome his worst fears. Both of them will have to learn how to work together to solve the murder case, while trying to fix one another for what could possibly be the beginning of a new chapter.
