"Would you follow me anywhere, then?" I smiled, tracing my fingers along the book as I studied the carved letters.

His sudden silence set my heart racing and I felt, surprisingly so, nervous to hear his answer.

But I knew if I played along, he wouldn't realize it. He wouldn't see right through me again.

"Yes."

I raised my gaze in order to search for his. He was still standing across the room, with impenetrable eyes fearlessly staring at me the whole time.

This wasn't supposed to be his answer.

"Anywhere? Even if that meant never seeing Neverland again?"

He tilted his head in curiosity.

And I was thrown off guard with his reply once more.

Elise thought life was meant to be boring as the daughter of the Duke. Pretty dresses, fake smiles and polite nods. It was an easy task, wasn't it?
