The dispute only ended for a short while with Subaru getting in trouble, due to the use of violence. As a result, he was expelled and soon was sent to America as punishment and to "cool down" with an old friend of his father's.

You, on the other hand, lived in Massachusetts in a small, yet lively town. Trying to survive in the chaotic world of high school, you managed somehow.
