Good Morrow

Elise Smal is finally able to get some answers after a promotion gives her the necessary clearance. Only, those answers don't come free; she has to travel to Blue Island, the site of an abandoned research facility. She only hopes that she can find Charlie before it's too late.

Hi guys! This is a little different than what I normally do but I decided to do the #writewithzo challenge. I asked for two prompts and I combined them.
They were:
Good Morrow: a tale of a soldier who misses her dog that takes place in a deserted island filled with colorful birds.
Artificial Intelligence: a tale of a biologist whose best friend lives on a petri dish that takes place in a prestigious science university.

For the first part of the prompt, I chose good morrow as the title and she was a weapons researcher to take care of the soldier part. The last two are obvious.

For the second part, I decided that the weapons she was researching were genetic enhancements. She relies on cigarettes and she works at the university.

Also, the word count (according to Google docs) is 889. Edit: I just realized that the word count is 500, I thought it was a 1,000. This is just going to be a short story now.
