Joey and Aria are the definition of "best friends forever." They've spent the majority of their childhoods side by side. Even into the teen years the two continue to grow together. Despite the difficult transition of child to adult, the two find comfort and support from their families, friends, and each other. 

But in one visceral instant that's all taken away from them. Joey ends up in a horrid car accident, placing him in a coma. With no guarantee as to when or if he will ever wake up.
