"So, you work for the FBI?"

Angus grinned up at him. "Their very best agent, if you allow me to say so."

Carter shot them a questioning look. "The very best?"

"Yes." Angus simply answered, finishing to wrap up his wound.

"What's your task?" They stood up, dusted their pants off, and stretched their hands out for him to take. When he did, they hauled him to his feet. For a second, Carter was worried about the bloodstain still visible on their chest, but he quickly shook the thought off. "Like, what do you currently have to do?"

"Currently, I am chasing a highly-dangerous time-travel-criminal," they beamed with pride, "one of the most important things that happened recently, I'd say."

"That sounds ridiculous."

03792 is an Agent for the FBI in the year 2509. Due to a mistake, they travel back in time and take Carter with them. Only when everything is messed up already do they realize that neither of them should actually be at that point in time where they are.
And Carter realizes something else; 03792--or, Angus Carthy--is not who they pretend to be and a game of hide-and-seek with the FBI brings the two in a deadlier situation after another.

Truths in disguise by Beloumba

Cover by @AdlerBourbon This story is about a dystopian social experiment devised by a disturbed professor. The town of Delphnea, a seemingly medieval village, is in fact an elaborate, controlled environment designed to simulate life in a bygone era. The professor has isolated the town from the modern world by erecting an invisible barrier, ensuring that none of the inhabitants can escape. His goal is to study how people behave when stripped of modern comforts and technology, reverting to primitive instincts and medieval societal structures. All of Delphnea's residents, including Carter and his father, are unaware that they are part of this grand experiment. They believe their lives are authentic and that they are living in a true medieval society. However, behind the scenes, the professor manipulates their environment-planting false information, monitoring their every move with hidden technology, and occasionally sending in outsiders like workers or agents to fix or alter parts of the experiment. The experiment is carefully crafted to test human behavior under duress, but over time, cracks begin to show. Modern elements occasionally slip through-like advanced technology, strange devices, and inconsistencies in the town's medieval setting-leading Carter and others to question their reality. As Carter and his friends uncover the truth, they realize they are pawns in a much larger game, a twisted psychological study where escape seems impossible and the professor watches every move from his hidden control room. In a world ruled by lies, the truth is deadly
Space-Time of Death: an Al Squires of the Protectorate Novel by ddubtyn

Call Al Squires many things: a special agent, a crime-fighter, a Magick-user, a mad scientist, a genius, a trickster, a philosopher, among others. Of course, you can also call him not-so-nice things: like 'pompous,' 'annoying,' and 'a lunatic'; but let's not dwell on the negative. However, in this second addition in the Al Squires of the Protectorate series, Al's adding a new name to the list: TIME TRAVELER! After Al and his new partner/trainee, Norah Navarro, have a 'chance' encounter with a mysterious witch on a foggy night, they're then called to their HQ for an emergency meeting along with the usual suspects. They then learned that their Division has been asked to help agents from Ouroboros, an ally organization in charge with time travel and anything Time-related, who are tasked to catch a time-traveling serial killer who has murdered four of their agents. It's strikes a definite cord when they find out that one of the victims is Sylvie Parish, the Division's Forensics expert/Ouroboros Liaison/ Al's frenemy. Of course, it doesn't strike as big a cord than it does with Sylvie, who was right there at the meeting, alive and well! So, in order to save Sylvie (and the other three) from being murdered, Al and Norah- along with their friends and fellow agents and a few Ouroboros agents- must travel back in time to prevent each murder from happening. However, there is one setback that may prove a hindrance to the mission: The emitter that Al wears that keeps his Lodestone side-affects in check has been sabotaged. That means he has to deal with all sorts of strangely horror-themed weirdness; including (but not limited to) Disco Zombies, Black Magick Hippies, and worse! And he and Norah can't tell anyone about it because the witch placed a spell on them that prevents them from telling anyone this. So, other than that, Sylvie's going to be fine...right?

Guns, revenge and buildings to bomb, what could go wrong? ✮ He came in, gun held out in front of him in one hand while the other was resting on his hip where a sharp dagger gleamed in the light. "Come on out little girl, why not make this easier for both of us. The agency you ran away from just want to have a little talk, that's all." She scoffed internally. Yeah right. Then the footsteps ceased. She peeked to the right, then to the left. Neither direction showed any sign of the intruder. She looked up in front of her and gasped, the glint of steel and smell of death as overwhelming as it was adrenaline inducing, exciting. "Boo." ✮ Murder, accidents, assassinations. Call it what you will, it's all the same, all has the same life breaking, mind shattering consequences - be it for the victim or the bystander. It had shaped Alex in a way no one should be. Broken down and rebuilt into the perfect soldier, one who had the power to change the world, to fight battles that would either make or break the carefully constructed vision we all live in. The only small, minute, really unimportant detail - it's pretty hard to get into a government classified site when you're 15 years old and have a rag-tag team of double-crossing back-stabbers behind you. Not to mention the threat of a world war and ghost hanging above your head. Armed with sarcasm, wit, and a hell of a lot of aggressive intentions, it won't be too long till a sticky situation is all that's ahead of you. Sometimes, running head-first into a situation isn't the best idea. Instead, you gotta play a game. A deadly game where either you have all the pieces on the board, or you have nothing. [previously known as Espionage: double-cross] Thanks for reading :)

#3 in Ringmaster on March 27, 2019 Prolouge The conversion is quick, the history of experiments bleeding out in front of everyone. I watch as it begins to flow through him, and he shakes, his hand that's holding his gun, unsteady, and I clumsily trip over my feet in an attempt to take back away from him. I regain my balance and take a unsure but steady step towards him and put a hand on his arm, trying to gain his attention, but it's no use. I'm close enough that i see the monster wake itself from its slumber inside of Ryan. His eyes stare at me, blankly and i watch as they transition from his blue eyes to the golden eyes of a cat. I watch as his pale blonde hair begins to grow black from his head, as if someone had spilled ink on him, and it was seeping through his hair slowly. The wound he'd had heals itself, the skin repairing itself from the inside out and the bullet is pushed out and falls to the sand without a sound. "R-Ryan?" I ask him, and as if my voice had awoken him, his eyes grow aware and his eyes narrow on mine, the hand holding his gun steadying. I see the predator that has awoken in him and I struggle to keep myself composed. "Ryan, I know you're in there... Come back. I- You and I are okay. Please just... Fight it off." I whisper, so that the crowd can't hear. So that they don't alarm the monster before them... So they don't throw away their chance of getting out of this alive. "Fight it off?" Ryan asks with an uncertainty rarely found in his voice. "Yes, fight it off. I know you can do it. If you don't. All these men will get hurt." I say trying to reason with him. Trying to help him see clarity. Then, he smiles, a large grin and it seems sinister from him and he peers at me through his hair that has fallen on his face. "Did one of these men shoot me?" He asks and I am caught off guard. "Yes..." I answer him, biting my tongue before i can say more. Ryan merely looks at me and grins... Before he turns, raises his gun arm and fires.
