derry bank took away the tozier family's home when their oldest son, richie tozier, was only 10 years old. richie has learned to hop around from place to place with his parents and younger sister, jess. eventually, richie's parents give up on trying to take care of both richie and jess, leaving them to fend for themselves. it's now up to richie to provide for the both of them.

Commission for my best friend, Katie (ily nh)!! Short reddie book that was originally a one-shot. It's the 1930s, and Richie Tozier is a navy boy who works hauling cargo at the shipyard by the bank. Eddie Kaspbrak is the banker's son who can't keep his eyes off of Richie, looking through the window of the bank. When they meet, Eddie refuses to give Richie his name until he "earns it." So Richie vows to earn the window boy's name, no matter what. "Eddie could feel Richie's eyes burning holes in his back, but he didn't turn around, just tensed a bit. He wasn't sure why. He guessed he knew that if he turned and looked, he'd be met with chocolatey eyes and dark, playful curls and milky, clear skin and an award-winning smile with full, soft lips and a nose that was always a little pink and probably a teasing, 'like what you see, Kaspbrak?' and huge, dorky glasses that somehow brought out every feature spectacularly, pitting them against each other in wonderful juxtaposition. Eddie Kaspbrak is the finest of Derry High. Straight A student and the perfect example to everyone of the ideal person to be. Eddie has his whole life planned ahead of him. Specific moves that are intricately structured with the perfect opportunities to lead him to the top. Eddie is the fucking poster boy of perfection. But unfortunately, nobody is perfect. And when a certain someone threatens the spot on top that Eddie has reserved for himself, the ugly side of him unleashes, and things get... messy. Let's just say that Eddie Kaspbrak would do anything for his reputation. And that includes befriending a complete moron, despite it's challenges. And it's challenges... are a fucking lot. But he's willing to get his hands dirty for the deed. As they all say, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Or, alternatively: Eddie Kaspbrak is a know it all, and believes he has battled heroically through all the high school classes he needs to ace in order to succeed in life and to know what he's doing all throughout.
