As the stranger settled himself down in the large comfortable armchair that had been placed by the fire especially for him, the rest of the customers arranged their chairs around him, eager to be able to hear well, the tale that was about to be told. Several tankards of ale were placed on a small table in front of him. He sat quietly for some minutes, his hands clasped, with two fingers steepled under his nose against his lips. Eventually, he leaned forward, picked up a tankard, took a long draft of ale, burped, set it back down on the table and sat back in his chair. ''The tale you are about to hear is true'' he said, glaring at them all one by one as if daring them to disagree with him once the story was told. ''And it will chill your bones.''

Gamleon's Tail ~ Welcome to the worlds of : Within ~ by Cicada3300
17 parts Ongoing Mature
I wrote this for EVERYONE. To appeal to anyone that reads ANY genre. It combines almost all of them. It's an introduction to the Worlds of Within universe. When you get to the action parts (which doesn't take long) you should be invested enough to want to unravel the mysteries and enjoy its intrigue... The flood is raging. A terrifying, heartless mountain of water, swallowing the world . The tunnel networks? Of course, that won't save them. The forests? Like leaves in a breeze. The lookout towers and trade hubs? Gone. Washed clean. Every home, every last trace of what once was. Gamleon is the first to see it ... and survive. His mind is near collapse, his heart broken. He runs. What would YOU do? What could anyone do? Some scrape by in a mythological setting of beasts and medieval men. Cruel, literally cold-blooded Gorgon hordes enforce an absolute rule slithering in the tunnels beneath the feet of every kingdom. There is an isolated, forgotten place. A cavern, magnificent and vast, older than civilization. A place where the weird and the unwanted might ride out this cataclysm if Gamleon can stay alive long enough to get them there.. In this special place, something incredible, cut off from the outside, lurks. Something... you won't be ready for or ever expect. Gamleon, our weary adventurer, is a paradox: terrifying to some perhaps, yet his heart and intent is helpful, with a quiet dignity bordering on noble, intimidating and innately intelligent. The only way back out is to navigate the Gorgon tunnels. Join him, won't you ? Share his inner thoughts . See and feel how they help us all learn how to persist and triumph in spite of a world where everything is stacked against us. ( sound familiar, it should.) Join him and be swept away as he encounters or invents never-before-seen innovations and outrageous challenges. Dignity meets hope. Self-respect shines beyond courage. Welcome my friend to the Worlds of Within.

(Book 2 of The Elf King trilogy) The familiar characters and some background information, are,of course,Tolkien, and of Marvels Loki Series. The new are my own creation,a continuation of those stories.I take no credit for Tolkien's or Marvels bodies of work. We separated in battle by Morgul magic.Witches. Separation always lead to dire consequences. It was strategic, happened so quickly,a wave of witches, creatures, and illusion.I fought through, managed to clear the illusion.Where was my husband?Gut wretching panic set in.I flew straight up,calling out, then screaming.Frantically scanned the field.I saw his elk.Dread filled my heart.Within a second I was there. Witches scattered all directions.I turned each I could to dust. They moved so fast,in such odd patterns,I only got a few.I covered the kings battered, bleeding body with mine as the witches kept attacking. They're attack on Thranduil had been brutal. "V!I need you!" At the kingdom: It was a long night.I managed to heal his wounds,as he thrashed and convulsed,no help from the healers. They were afraid to come near him. "Cowards!Get out!" Neither would the White council enter. This was Morgul dark magic, and he was considered cursed. Legolas,Tauriel, and our Orcian daughter was all I had.It was enough. The wounds slowly closed, his beauty, more entrancing than ever. Around dawn, his eyes fluttered open. "The light."he mumbled. Legolas quickly closed the shutters. My face fell to his chest,as I sobbed. "Little dove,no.All is well. Please, no."he crooned against my head, "Look.I am well." I raised my eyes, everyone gasped. His eyes glowed red. "Starving,in fact." "Starving?"I repeated cautiously, "-for what?" "Everything smells so wonderful. You smell wonderful."he said, sitting up. "Husband-"I began, then turned to the others,"Leave us." "No."legolas stated,"I won't let him harm you." "What?!"Thranduil said,"my son-" "Look."Legolas said, snatching a hand mirror from the bureau, holding it to him,"Look at your eyes, those fangs!"

The darkness of the past catches up to the present and looms over the future. The now-grown undead god meets someone from his past for the last time in his infinite life. An ancient artifact that unlocks a hidden ability comes into his possession and will stay with him throughout his infinite life. Excerpts: Hearing that title broke him from his mental preoccupation. _Oh, no. Not her. Not with these people._ Glancing around the table, he saw that everyone was looking at him, overtly and covertly, watching and waiting for his reaction. ... The young god stood up in excitement. _It just talked to me! I'm talking to it! This is so weird. What else can I ask it?_ ... _What should I say? I should say something, right?_ "Umm... Hi!" he managed to say. He stopped himself from wincing at his awkward greeting as he felt every eye in the room on him and maintained a casual and relaxed facade. _'Hi'? Really? After not seeing her for so long, all you can say is 'Hi!'? Say something else._ "I came here to see you." _No, idiot. Say something less obvious._ "And, uhh, talk to you." _What's wrong with you, self?_ ... "I don't know. I don't really know what to do anymore. I've done terrible things to him but I don't know anymore if I did the right thing."
