Spike - a white tom with brown spots and blue eyes - is fatally injured, because of a misunderstanding between Shadow - a black tom with green eyes - and Spike ends up losing his paw, because of this misuderstanding. Now that Spike has no paw - he can never truly be the strong cat he desired to be in his clowder. 
 
Spike is convinced that Shadow is nothing but an evil cat now, and wants nothing but pain and sorrow. He truly believes that Shadow is the complete opposite of him, and nothing more. Is it true that Shadow is complete evil? Is it true that Shaodw and Spike are complete opposites?
