Sophie is tired. Tired of waking up already exhausted. Tired of carrying thoughts that never seem to rest. Tired of being told she is strong when all she wants is for the weight to stop. When the world becomes too loud and hope flickers dangerously low, Sophie falls asleep begging for silence - not to disappear, but to rest without guilt. She wakes somewhere else entirely. A place quieter than anything she has known. A place that does not demand healing, gratitude, or progress. And there, she is not alone. Vaelen does not promise to save her. He does not offer easy answers or miracles. He simply stays - steady, patient, unafraid of the darkness she carries. Through subtle magic and quiet presence, he shows Sophie that pain does not define her worth, and that survival does not have to look heroic to be real. Borrowed Silence is a tender, introspective story about anxiety, depression, and the kind of support that rarely gets portrayed - the kind that listens, waits, and does not turn away. It is a story for those who have felt like a burden, for those who were promised help that faded too quickly, and for those still learning that staying is an act of courage. Content & Trigger Warning This novel explores themes of anxiety, depression, emotional exhaustion, feelings of worthlessness, and passive thoughts of wanting relief from existence. It also touches on emotional neglect, abandonment, and the impact of misunderstanding mental health struggles. While written with care and compassion, some scenes may be confronting for readers with lived experience. Please read at your own pace and take breaks if needed. Y/N L/N was an employee of Playtime Co. she is known for her kind heart and compassionate nature, Y/N had a deep love for helping orphans, which led to her assignment as the clinic nurse at Playcare. However, her position didn't remain stable for long. She was unexpectedly transferred to a different facility-one shrouded in secrecy. The moment she set foot inside, an unsettling sense of familiarity washed over her. Standing before her was a figure from her past. . . . . Harley Sawyer. . . . . . "You're trembling," he murmured, his lips barely grazing my skin. "Tell me, my nurse... is it fear, or something else?" I swallowed hard, my hands pressing against his chest, but he didn't let me go. His grip was firm yet controlled, like a predator toying with its prey. "Doctor, let go," I said, though my voice wavered, lacking the authority I wanted it to have. He chuckled, the sound dark and velvety, laced with something unreadable. "Why would I?" he whispered, his fingers tracing slow, deliberate patterns along my back. "You think I'd just let you walk away right now?" I stiffened at his words. There was something possessive in his tone, something that made my pulse quicken in both fear and something far more dangerous. . . . . In this book I may or may not able to put a proper timeline of the Poppy Playtime but as the story progress to the gameplay. To note here Dr. Harley and Y/n may have met before when the were in college but different course. Also, in this book Elliot Ludwig had fired Sawyer before and this would be the first time that they met and work together. Also I headcannon Dr. Harley Sawyers age around early 30's and Y/n in late 20's I don't own Poppy Playtime and the characters. This belongs to the Mob Entertainment and formerly directed by Isaac Christopherson. I don't pictures and fanarts used in this book. The book cover art isn't mine, it belongs to rightful owners.
