Driven To Be

Night fell quickly, and with surprise. The air crisp and smoked. He was back in her mind. She grasped the wheel, not realizing how tight her grip had become. Before long it hurt her to hold on. But like the memory of him, she couldn't let go. Miles of asphalt kept her away. But her heart and soul was always at his doorstep. The moment he smiled with that sweet innocence, to the day it turned to lust. Her knuckles pulsing, mind racing to the thought of what he shared. She dare not smile, or they'd question her happiness. Everyday it repeats again. Only the moon keeps her hopeful. This life so cruel. What had she done? Would their day ever come? But soon the lights blinded her dreams. The time had passed, she never found the nerve. She could only think of all the words she'd wished, she could say. Awaken again tomorrow, to a new broken day.
