Ernest just wants to figure out how his brother, Cole, died. What he doesn't know is when he finally gets a lead on his brother's murder, he accidentally solves a 20 year old murder case by a mysterious serial killer he may have personal connections with.
While Ernest is doing his work his friends and helpers with cracking this case, Issac Acerbi and Jude Witcher learn to adjust each other and form a meaningful relationship.
Ernest's wife, Kristine, has to make an important choice between different people in her family. Her only form of clarity she has is her and Ernest's daughter Lilith who seems to tell dark stories for such a little girl.
