Where Charlie came from she's called a shifter. That's because while she's also human, she's a wolf, as is her sister Jewel. The sisters are inseparable so when Charlie lands in the middle of the woods by herself from a spell gone wrong she doesn't know what to do. On top of that, this world has monsters. And with those monsters are hunters. So when she saves both Sam and Dean's ass one day she realizes these men and their lifestyle could lead her to her sister, and maybe a way back home.
