The stranger puts his arm around the stunned lawyer. Behind the unknown man's dark glasses are bloodshot eyes ready to scare the wits out of his prey. "Your mother does. She's expecting me to greet you happy birthday." Removing his dark glasses, he stares at his victim to corrupt his eyes. Insurmountable fear assaults Artemis as excruciating pain drills on his eyeballs. A horrible scream slits through the silence of the night when the clock strikes twelve. As the elevator opens, the stranger loosens his grip and the victim falls on the floor. Covering his bleeding eyes, Artemis winces from severe pain. The man whistles away as he walks past the dead body of the security guard in the lobby to the snowy road outside the building. His victim crawls out of the closing elevator. The curse is true. My hand slaps against my mouth as I try to shut myself up. Don't make too much noise...or he'll hear you. A vehicle's door opens then slams shut.
