A surfing accident left Kanoa where she is now; parentless, her surfing career over, half way across the country and with a heavy secret as her burden.

At the age of seventeen, Kanoa has been through more than most people could even dream of.

She needs a new start and she hopes she'll find it in Kauai - her dad's hometown.

She want to live her life, free of her past and with no distractions.

But Makai, a cocky, arrogant childhood friend with an unknown grudge against her, is making that difficult.

He is determined to find out what she is hiding.

He didn't mean to fall in love with her in the process.

With the help of her friends she attempts to find normality without water, which is one thing she's never had to do. She wants to forget about her past and focus on re inventing herself.
