You're not as popular
But you've earned quite a reputation
They've caught you a few times
With that journal of yours
They rolled their eyes
Sad boy. They laughed
Sad people and their poetry

You wondered
Are you sad enough to write poetry?
You count all the tragedies in your life
You read all your poorly written verses
All the horrible rhymes you made
You're not sad. You're a wannabe

But you'll continue anyway
Your paper decorated with dried up tears
You still walk the hallways with a frown
Are you trying to be dramatic?
Whatever it is, you can't help it
The ocean in your eyes will not stop leaking

You write till you're out of ink
Till you have to use your tears
It's comforting
But it's as good as paper tape to your broken heart
