The orange lights burned holes through her as she trudged through the muddy streets of New York. Sounds cascaded over her like a heavy fog, ringing through her head. Lord did she wish she had some meds to calm her as her ears ticked like a grandfather clock. The lights were making her nauseous, or maybe it was the fact that she hadn't eaten in days, whatever the case she hated it. New York was to busy for her, to many people, but that made it easy to disappear. As long as she kept to the crowds the hunters would never find her and She would never have to be drown in the dungeons of that lab again. No more syringes or I.V.s to pump her full of chemicals she couldn't even pronounce. No more incisions and operations to discover where she got her "talents". A cool chill ran down her back at the thought.
The blaring of a car horn rung under her skin as blood pulsed passed her eardrum making a gush as it pumped, Jesus this city was hell, but it sure was better than the endless nightmare that was her home.

The Perfect Cat

9 parts Complete

In a near-future world where even pets are subscription-based, a family prepares for the arrival of their first child by choosing a soft, affectionate companion- a FELIX-12 named Fluffy. She's warm. She purrs. She's perfect. But when money gets tight and the payments stop, so does Fluffy. Told through the eyes of a father trying to hold on to something real in a world that's been optimized to the point of erasure, The Perfect Cat is a quiet, haunting exploration of love, loss, and the unsettling ease with which we replace what we used to mourn.
