Twenty years of peace. Twenty years of prosperity for Pyrrhia. Twenty years, and the Dragonets of Destiny have started their own families.
Prince Drift has always looked up to his mother and father, Tsunami and Riptide, his uncle Turtle, and his aunt Queen Auklet. He always wanted to be remembered for something great, and attending Jade Mountain Academy, he believes, is a start.
But trouble is arising in the Sky Kingdom. After the sudden death of Queen Harrier, a dispute for the throne has left the kingdom on the edge of a civil war. When a sudden new challenger for the throne steps up, all of the kingdoms are threatened with the prospect of another war of succession. With his family and his new friends in danger, Drift knows he has to do something.
But how is a single dragonet meant to alter the course of a brewing civil war?

"Wings Of Fire: The Drifting Prince" is the start of a brand new Wings Of Fire fanfiction series, set 20 years after the defeat of Darkstalker. Following a new set of dragonets, a new challenge is set upon them.
And this time, there's no prophecy to guide Pyrrhia.

Things are going great on Pyrrhia, the founders of Jade Mountain have gave chances for younger dragonets to enroll in their now few years old school. Things seem great, until a battalion of HiveWing soldiers invade Pyrrhia and threatens their safety as Queen Wasp demands ruling rights over Pyrrhia. Toucan is a young RainWing with anger issues, and he takes this as a perfect opportunity to try and manage his disorder and make new friends. Dusky never wanted to go to school, he wanted to be in close proximity with his adoptive mother; Luna, after his own mother died in an unfortunate accident. He is scared of what might happen next if he ever sets talon in a new place he has no experience in, and he questions his own safety as a swarm of HiveWing soldiers invade Pyrrhia. Bumblebee was always ecstatic about school, she was always looking forward on making new friends, but after hearing an ominous prophecy from Fate Claws she starts to realize her life was at stake. Fate Claws was a normal NightWing with nothing more special than having the powers of foretelling to future, and prophecy powers. She was born under a blue moon, and she never really thought much of it until she starts seeing weird dragons that her other clawmates can't see. One of the dragons might be the one that seals their fate. Tiger realizes he was dead, and there was nothing left for him to accomplish. He had betrayed Wasp after all. But it was for a good purpose, was it? Now, he wanders the continents knowing that no one would be able to see, or hear him - then he stumbles upon a very NightWing dragonet who might be the only one who could ever see him.

Would he have to choose one or the other? Turtle was always just a nobody in the sea. Then out of of blue Turtle loses his mother and father in one day, and his new sister, Tsunami, who seems to have popped out of nowhere, becomes the queen of the SeaWings. He was almost certain that she had some kind of evil inside her, but who would stop her, where was the hero? Turtle didn't know until he met and saved someone, who told him he was the hero. Orca makes sure she doesn't turn out like Darkstalker by protecting her soul and mostly using her magic to help other dragons. However, some dragons hate Orca's powers and think she will behave like Darkstalker. They imprison her brothers and try to get her to use her magic chaotically to show the world that she is a monster. Orca saved her brothers without chaotically using her magic, but other tests are thrown at her. Can she convince the dragons of Pyrrhia that she is not a monster? Or does she have to destroy them all?
