What if Rin hadn't met his father. He only had himself to take care of. He knew he was different from the very beginning. 

His brother abandoned him and left him to die. Yukio wanted to kill his twin brother as he knew his brother was the devil. After years of running, Rin finally broke. He was finally captured by Yukio and he had to went through hell. 

Rin knew him being a demon is the only way that will get him out. He wanted to spill blood. He wanted to prove demons can be superior  than human kind.
