Society expects us to be what it wants: perfect. For those who don't meet those standards (which is everyone), they hear how horrible they are because they refuse to abide by those rules and how they should change themselves in order to not be outcasted from those who mostly fit this criteria (aka "normal" people). As a pansexual, feminine, female-to-male transgender, I have heard almost everyday of my life of who and what I'm supposed to be. In this poem, I have written what I hear from society the most in the order of what I heard first.

Normal
Nova is a girl who has been bullied for not being normal, and as a result tries her best to be "normal". This ends up pushing the people she cares about away, and she uncovers something new about herself that she hates. ------- Normal. What does it mean to be normal? Other people always seem to know what it means to be normal, but I can never figure it out. "Why can't you just be normal?" Those six words ring over and over and over again in my head every single day of my life. It feels like every part of me is being ripped apart piece by piece whenever I hear those words in my head, and I don't know how to make it stop. What is so wrong about my life, that tears run down my cheeks every single night? What is so wrong about me. ⚠️This story contains abuse, self harm, homophobia(I think, I haven't read this in a while), and bullying. Shit Happens
This is for anyone that can't put there thoughts and feelings into words. Whether it be at your best, worst, most beautiful, or most tragic times. These poems will remind you of them. Or so I hope. Because I mean Shit Happens. Someone gets bullied, Just because "They're different" "Nerdy" "Annoying" "Have no sense of fashion..." All those things are of unimportance...!
