Jessica Smith is a 17 year old teenage girl in her junior year of high school. Freshman and Sophomore years were great, but after her parents' death in the previous summer, Jessica is facing overwhelming grief.

After 8 months of constant grieving, Jessica's grandmother and older brother decide to send her to live with her Uncle Adam in Alaska. That doesn't sound so bad, right? Move to a new place to get a fresh start? However, Adam is a drunkie who wouldn't know how to take care of himself if his life depended on it. So yeah, that's not so good for a new start.

The day of the move in, Jessica spots a mysterious wolf. She's drawn to him. However, how will she comprehend the fact that he might not be just a wolf, and that he lives in a mythical land where creatures that shouldn't exist.... exist. How did this land and these creatures come to be? And who is responsible for it?
