It's been over a year since Annie Tahiri was abducted by one of Gotham's most notorious psychopaths. After watching him get murdered only a few feet away from her, she escaped and was finally reunited with her family. She is now a senior in high school; focused on finishing the year, getting into college, and becoming a lawyer.
Unfortunately for her, Jerome is resurrected by an obsessive cult that is devoted to him and his vision. Before he brings more chaos and destruction back to the city, he is determined to find her again. After all, they were meant to be together.

He comes to terms with the arrangement quicker than expected. It's not awful, and Jerome's influence in the asylum helps make his stay more tolerable than it was the first time. It's not a huge price to pay. He's working hard to move past Edward and he's pretty proud of himself for it.
