In this world, Castiel knows things that lurk in the shadows. He often thinks HE is one of those things. His family isn't human. They are very far from it, all of them have a grace. All of them have a secret, they are all part of the divine. Castiel loves humans though, they are weird. His family has been around for a while, but they always move after a while. (It helps with their cover.)

In this world, Dean knows and hunts the things that lurk in the shadows. He hates monsters, at least the bad ones. He knows they can't be saved. His family, is broken. His father, a pro hunter who has Dean in his footsteps. And then there is Sammy, the diamond in the family. Dean can't compare, even his father tells him so. Still, Dean would kill and die for his brother.

In this world, there are the hunters and the hunted. Both equally bad, and terrible pasts. Both murderers. There is no winning.

During a dangerous case with Sam and Dean something goes wrong and Castiel goes missing, this isn't like the other times Cas has disappeared, this is different, it's strange even for Cas. With Castiel gone Dean doesn't eat or sleep he just drinks and prays wondering if Cas can hear him. Day and night he checks the newspapers and police reports from every city, and county in the US for any sign of the trench coat angel. With no leads things become even more bleaker. Dean throws himself down a hole, and Sam is becoming increasingly worried about about Dean so he seeks out help from from another angel to see if they know anything about the whereabouts of Castiel. Castiel is lost he doesn't know where he is or who he is. He just goes where his feet take him. He never eats or sleeps but he doesn't he have to, he doesn't know why he doesn't eat and it doesn't bother him much cause it would just slow him down. He remembers nothing about Sam or Dean or even himself for that matter, but something is itching at the wall in the back of his head trying to break through, it wants to get out but can't. He gets fragments of things every so often but they are of pain and torture and a redhead he doesn't know the name of.
