When 16 year-old Nicola drowns at sea, she finds herself immaculately unscathed and lying on the bay come Friday.
At first, she dismisses it as luck, or a dream, although the haunting thought and reality remains on her mind and consumes all other thoughts throughout her day. However, she finally gets the answer she is looking for when an idle stroll on the beach and the sharp edge of a sea-shell manages to trigger not only a small wound inflicted upon her fore-finger, but something else, too.
