This here's a story.  Ma story.  The last story I ever will tell.  You'da think me a crazy man but everythin' I tells you tonight is the God's honest truth.  If there be a God.  After what I seen and what happened to ma kin, I ain't even sure there is a God no more.  But be warned stranger, this ain't no campfire tale.  It's the story 'bout how ma family came to their end, one-by-one.  And a hint of what's to come for me too.  Pay you heed, least-wise you end up like me.  Losing everythin', everyone, to the Chiggawaug...
