A woman, especially in most parts of Asia, particularly Indian women, never get the opportunity to explore life beyond marriage and motherhood. The emphasis is always on fulfilling other's expectations, following a set pattern, being of service to family.
The importance of self love, soul nourishment, freedom to live on your own terms, being happy, putting oneself first is very rarely or never inculcated in most women.
When a woman chooses to cater to her own needs, emotionally, physically, mentally... It creates guilt. The twenty first century is all about coming out of all the boundaries set by family, society, oneself and putting your own peace of mind, well being ahead of all the expectations we are burdened with.
You are all you will ever have. Fill your cup to the extent that it overflows. That is the only way to survival in a world that bombards you with judgement, expectations, gender roles, stereotypes and labels you when you decide to tend to yourself first.
BE YOU, boldly.
