Kahina the desired. Kin slayer. Heir apparent. But never was she Kahina the loved. Never was she more than some unattainable being born of the purest of bloodline. Blessed by a long forgotten goddess, the blue blooded house of Canus seemed to be her favourite and it's understandable why the entire continent carried such a thought. Why should they not? They truly were magnificent creatures. Beautiful and cruel with unmistakable haunting ice blue eyes and bone white hair. Some of the lower bloodlines had tales of the blue bloods being able to freeze a man solid with just a stare. The truth is, they were capable of that and so much more.

All her life, Reya has been constantly reminded of how powerful a Witch she is, and how important the females of her mother's bloodline have always been in maintaining the balance in the magical continent of Alanus. And she doesn't remember a time when she ever wanted any of that. All Reya has ever wanted is to prove to her father that she can fight beside her twin brother and help protect their hometown, despite being "just a half-blood Witch." Her chance to prove herself as an able warrior comes when her town is suddenly attacked by the scavenging Savages of the Far North. But after a poorly thought out plan leaves Reya lost in the forests, she finds herself at the mercy of whatever gets to her first, be it wild animal or the fabled Savages. Her fate worsens, at least to her, when she meets an unlikely comrade; a black Wolf-shifter from a noble tribe who is determined to get on Reya's last nerve before the day breaks. She promises herself she will only accommodate him till the sun rises, and then she will forget the black haired boy who stayed with her through the night though he didn't have to. But of course... even that is going to be difficult for Reya to do.
