"Korra Lane." he whispered leaning back on the wall in our old tree house. "What do you hear?"
I smiled and closed my eyes focusing all my attention on the music of the universe around me. The chirp of crickets pierced the air as the wind rustled the leaves scraping against the old wood. Camouflaged by the beautiful sounds of nature were the soft crunch of footsteps and they tiptoed over dead leaves. My eyes darted open, "They found us."
We crawled towards the window and peaked outside. Rushing backwards towards the ladder we tried to pull it back inside before the two shadowy figures reached the base of the tree. Mason's head popped up just as my fingers wrapped around the worn rope, "Boo!"
I screamed and fell backwards pulling Danny down with me. Giggles erupted from our two person pile. Soon we were joined by the other two boys as Mason pulled a chuckling Max into our hideout. The four of us sat there for what seemed like forever, suspended timelessly in our laughter.
Then the memory slipped away and my mind went blank as tears began to spill out, blurring my vision and cracking my heart.

I screamed and pushed at him but he didn't budge. I then raised my knee and kneed him between the legs with all my force, and he dropped like a rock, holding his groin. Run. I took my chance. An eerie silence echoed through the house at the end of Yellow Brooke Street, the wind outside slammed toward the wooden walls making a whistle inside the house from the cracked windows; the front door made a thud each time it slammed toward the wall and the screams from the dead gave the house an uneasiness to it. I stood before the house, while my friends were excited to do the exact opposite of what our parents told us to; I was not. I trusted my mother when she told us to never get close to this place. "You guys ready?" Diana said with joy in her voice, I stuttered. "No.." the fear in my voice was obvious, though no one seemed to care. Dan glanced at me and chuckled. "Really? It's just a house." "It's a haunted house." I said nervously. "Maybe we should trust our parents on this, they told us that it isn't safe for a reason." "You wimp."
