You know that feeling that you are a slave to the system for eternity, just slogging away at life? 

Commonly it means that you are a loser. Sometimes it means that you are in a relationship that really is not good for you (and you know it). But, if you are truly unfortunate, it means that you are a robot teacher.

There was pin-drop silence as the three other teachers grasped his meaning. Mrs Green looked curious, Mrs Chan looked determined, and Mr Wellan looked at Mr Rosen.

"What is outside?" Mr Wellan asked.

"Outside is better than inside." Mr Rosen replied. "We don't know and we don't have time to speculate. I need to be sure that if I plan to leave will you come with me?" He looked around and made eye contact as he spoke. 

"Yes." Mrs Green replied. She was excited and had clearly thought about this before. Mrs Chan nodded and Mr Wellan hugged him. Again.  

"Okay then." Mr Rosen said trying to break off Mr Wellan's hug unsuccessfully first, but then managed to untangle himself from the orange gangly grip. 

"Mrs Chan, given what we have here" he looked around at the supply closet cleaning chemicals "can you make a fire?"

"Pfff" she huffed with scorn. "I am a chemistry teacher. I can make water burn."

They all looked at the diminutive lady. 

"That's nice." Mr Wellan said, cheerfully.
