I had it all: the brains, the beauty, the fortune, and the popularity. I was queenbee and valedictorian-- the Golden Girl of Jackson Woods High, but I was also known as a 'mean girl' to a selective some, mainly known as the losers. I was problematic and polarizing. People either admired me or hated me; admittedly, some within reason. One of my biggest hater was Peter Foster, the school's uppity pariah. We've hated each other since the first day he moved here in freshmen year. Our animosity towards each other reached its peak when one of our arguments inadvertently hospitalized our high school counselor, Mrs. Boyle, almost sabotaging my status as valedictorian. After that, principal Johnson expected us to set aside our differences and learn to get along by forcing us to help in an animal shelter every Saturday. People wouldn't have thought it, but I had enough problems and I didn't need that brooding loner to add more.
