16-year-old Ever Sonnet is a born Hufflepuff who's finally written a story she wants to pursue. She's a valuable member of Greenwoods High's swim team with loving parents, best friends who make her days colourful, and her brother;

17-year-old Trevor Sonnet. A chronic but charismatic overachiever. He's the lead singer in a Youtube-famous band called DECIPHER who's a little too determined to keep Ever away from undeserving love interests.

Last but not least, Matthew Ryland. DECIPHER's bassist and Trevor's mysterious but lively best friend who's always piqued Ever's curiosity with his unpredictable requests. As keeper of her family's secrets, all he's ever wanted is to get to know her.

When Ever experiences her first short-lived relationship, it becomes a catalyst for complex, unspeakable emotions to surface between her and Trevor. Matthew attempts to comfort her despite The Sonnets' disapproval, leading Ever to suspect his involvement with her murky past. Everything falls to pieces when Trevor downs a bottle of champagne and confesses:

He is not her brother.
He is hopelessly, irrevocably in love with her.

Over the following months, Ever is forced to confront her own feelings and its implications. While pursuing the truth about her family will shatter her reality, not even the fear of change can keep her rooted to a life that's been built on lies.
