Certainly they could trust that those in power ultimately had the best interests of the people in mind, right? ~~~ Luna slouched low in her seat, staring at droplets of water that ran diagonally down the window of the bus. The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. Idiots.

The party was quite nice. The school year had just started. But there was too much alcohol, too many problems, and a unfortunate accident that would kill 5 kids, leaving many in grief. Cheating happened, death happened, rape happened, and brought people closer to each other than they've ever been. People mourn every time they see the sunset, people can't bring themselves to get into an Uber. At the end of the day they're just young, and some will stay young forever. She didn't know she had it for him this bad until Umaymah told her he will be travelling out. It wasn't like she was going to see him often anymore, but she felt at least at every graduation ceremony or prize giving day, he could show up. And maybe drive Umaymah to say hi to her during holidays like he did two weeks back. All these were just wishes and now that he will be leaving the country, she needed to forget about him. In a world where most people dream and everything is normal, how would it feel to not know what normal is? Life is never easy, and it won't ever be. It's harder when you have demons of your past and devils in your present to fight against. No one wants to lose, but how long can you keep yourself stable? Only the strong and brave survives in the race. Is she strong and brave? Triggers are present.
