Six. What does that word mean to you? Just by looking you should be able to tell it's a number. But is it a big number? Not necessarily. By definition, it's actually rather small.
Let me set the scene. It was midday and there were charcoal clouds in the sky indicating it was about to rain. There was a distinct smell of seaweed and exhaust fumes in the air. Just another normal day in Tokyo, Japan. This particular story starts just on the edge of the city where the houses and buildings begin to thin out.
Inside a grey, one-story house, a little girl's life was about to change. For the better or worse, you'll have to wait and see.

Skye was just an ordinary human. One with an unfortunate life. Her mother was killed in an armed robbery when she was barely a year old. Her father turned to alcohol and smoking to hide his pain. As the years went he began to abuse her and was eventually murdered as well by a burgler. She was sent to Wammy's House. As the only girl there, it was hard for her but she made a few friends and was very close with another boy. She stood out easily because of her white hair and small figure but it was mostly her eyes. She wasn't born with her white hair, it turned white from the torture and stress her father put her through. Her eyes were different. She was born with large, blood red eyes. Of course no one knew that she hadn't been born with white hair, not even the boy she was basically dating, except a boy little older than her named Lawliet. He was like a brother to her. Lawliet was given a caretaker named Watari and Skye, one named Yamato. She lived her life as normal as she could and climbed the ranks as a detective; even surpassing L, though she didn't know who he actually was. As it's well knows, shinigami liked to gamble to entertain themselves. The king himself gambled his own life and power on her and a few years before she went into Wammy's. The king bet his that she wouldn't risk her life to save a stranger and used his death note to put her in a situation that she could save a child's life by risking her own or continue walking and not give them a second glance. She saved the child and gained his death note, the shinigami eyes, healing and self-healing, the power to bring back to dead, and knowing whenever someone has been killed using a death note. She had not to try draw attention to herself, since others couldn't see the shinigami she talked to. As the shinigami queen it was hard to be normal. She traveled for cases and decided to dye her hair inky purple when she was in America. She returned to Japan to go to school and observe the Kira case.

The institution known as Wammy's House was, as you probably already know, founded for the purpose of raising extraordinarily gifted children that would grow up to benefit society. An undeniably noble goal. And yet, that quiet orphanage in Winchester hides behind its modest facade the bloodied remains of two innocent children who's traumas would haunt their legacy forever. The generation of failures - A and B. We all know of the infamous B, Beyond Birthday, perpetrator of the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. The symphony of his life was a tragic, cascading hysteria; ringing of fury and devastation in the ears of our troubled organisation. ...But what of A? Well, the official story goes like this: A (or Above Asphodel), was the first of L's successors, and, unable to handle the enormous pressure, committed suicide at seventeen. But that's inaccurate. In truth, A suffered years of abuse that the hands of the Wammy's House. And more importantly, A didn't truly die. Every life can be read as a parable with a moral and a theme. Those of us whose lives were marred by extreme misfortune are given temporary refuge from death and rebirth to heal the wounds they suffered. Above Asphodel was one of these people. And, seven years after Above's suicide, the detective known as L met an untimely death as well, at the hands of Kira. His too was a life cut short; a story incomplete. But there's no such thing as 'the end'. There is no final act of existence. The fact is, we continue to exist long after we're gone, the only difference being what form we take, and for what purpose. And the Universe, in her usual enigmatic fashion, chose to continue the stories of the first two Wammy's kids post-mortem.

"She's right! She's right! I don't cut in the right spot." My hold tightens on my wrist. The red blood oozes out of my wrist. I slide up and grab my bag and run out of the bathroom. I don't care if people can see the blood I just want to get out. I race for the doors and shove through people. I earn a lot of glares and glances that read "weirdo." I ignore and push. I run to my house and lock myself in my bathroom. I don't bother closing the front door cause I don't care if people come in to kill me. I grab my razor and cut deep cuts into my arm and wrists falling into a pool of my own blood. β€’ β€’ β€’ Evangeline has a great life. Friends? Check! Good grades? Check! Loving family? Check! How can an innocent twelve year old deal with these problems? Will she keep on facing these problem till the day she breaks. Her school burns down forcing her into a different school to meet different people and she has to fit into a different lifestyle as well. Meet Evangeline. Now at 17 years of age in a new high school. Not all girls anymore. No uniform. Meet Drake. Your classic bad-boy. He just moved to Saint Abigail high school. He is assigned partners with the quiet, calm, unnoticed Evangeline. As time progresses he finds that she isn't as happy on the inside as she is on the outside. Can he save her? Or is it too late? β€’ β€’ β€’ Some rude language. Depression and cutting. Don't say I didn't warn you. Okay, I wrote this at the start of this year (may 2016) and I had very poor writing skills. This book hasn't been edited and the whole idea is cliche so I wouldn't recommend you read it but I'm not stopping you, either. Read at your own risk. β€’ β€’ β€’ Copyright Β© 2017 by -moonlust. Smoke And Mirrors: L x Theatre Actor! Reader

You're fresh to the world of professional acting, although you've been training your whole life. Specifically, you have performed as several testimonies for mock trials at Wammy's House to help train L and his successors over the years. But now, he really needs you. L's most recent case entails several murders, in which all the victims were last seen with a particular suspect. To prove this man's guilt, L needs you to go undercover in order to get close to him and get concrete evidence or maybe even a confession. As the case drags on for longer than expected, L may begin to have a confession of his own... This is kinda a self-insert, but in case you're a broadway nut like me I made it an x reader so you can enjoy the ride. Also there's an original dude in this named Victor. Don't worry you'll like him. Any and all criticism is appreciated and welcome! I wrote this as a way to improve my own writing in a way that would motivate me. **BTW f/n stands for friend name and a/f/n stands for another friend name.**
