Ava May Larsen is excited for her high school graduation gift - a day hike up Moonlight Mountain, the tallest mountain in Golden Valley. She's going with her parents, Ron and Julie, along with her two best friends, Sherry and April. The two had been her best friends since tenth grade, and loved the outdoors as much as she did. During the summer, they would camp a lot, but never got around to going up to Moonlight Mountain, mostly because it was a few hour's drive away from their hometown. However, the day that started out normally - girls getting ready for a hike - turns tragic when Ava becomes separated and lost after breaking from the group to check out something she thought she saw in between the trees. She realizes she is lost when she can no longer hear her friends talking or see them through the thick foliage. Ava is faced with the realization that she has to spend the night in the forest. Realizing she needs to keep her wits about her to survive, she remains calm as she prepares for the night. However, one night turns into two, and she senses something - or someone - is following her. At first, she puts it up to her paranoia after hearing several stories about the forest on Moonlight Mountain, but then she discovers she is being stalked when a wolf makes his presence known. Is he there to help her, or to harm her? Ava doesn't know. Will she be able to survive in the forest until she is found?
