Low self-esteem wasn't something Eijirou Kirishima liked to admit to having. It wasn't manly. It wasn't strong. It certainly wasn't heroic, but after struggling with his crippling self-doubt for a lifetime things finally seem to be turning around when he's accepted into UA, a miracle he refuses to give himself credit for.
Katuski Bakugou refuses to allow himself to be weak enough to show his own low self-image. His frantic drive to be the best - and the only best - is manic and self destructive, so when he gets into UA and is anything but the top student he finds his explosive attitude worse than normal.
Somehow, when these two boys met - drawn together as though by forces outside of the realm of the natural - they both seem to find themselves healing from their own damage.

Bakugou Katsuki was never much one for luck. Chance maybe, but luck? Hell no. All those years ago when he first saw the raven-haired loser, he thought nothing of the sadness glittering deep in those ruby red depths, of the obvious pain that pleaded for someone to care. And so, as the ignorant person he was, he pretended not to see the cry for help. They talked, but the boy was always alone, if not literally then figuratively. He was alone, trapped in his mind. Always left to suffer in silence. Years down the road, he meets a passionate boy with fiery red hair and a glowing personality. And he doesn't fail to notice the hopelessness that lingered far away in his shining eyes, as if his emotions had been poorly tucked away for another time. This time, he can't help but care. But nothing is ever as it appears, and your eyes can deceive you. Especially when you lie to yourself long enough. Eijirou Kirishima is now a Pro-Hero known as "Red Riot". Recently, he was offered the summer off and he happily accepted it. He hasn't seen anyone of his friends outside of his job and on television, and he hopes that someday during the summer he will hang out with his friends. One specifically. Katsuki Bakugou is the 2nd top hero just under Deku. He strives to be the best but ends up creating more problems than he can solve. He is offered a summer break from hero work but declines because he believes that hero's never take breaks. Soon after, he is injured on a job and is forced to take leave. Since his parents are in America, he calls Eijirou, asking if he can stay with him. Katsuki does not know Eijirou likes him, but Eijirou doesn't know that Katsuki is likes him either.
