Emerson is a Pansexual teen, and Andy is a Gay teen. Emerson and Andy know about each other's sexualities, but nobody else does. Emerson is scared to come out and tell his family, for an unknown reason. Andy's parents are straight homophobic, so he can't come out to them at all.
The two are taking a huge risk, especially Andy. If someone finds out, they're dead.
