The Dark World

Mina doesn't live; she survives. Orphaned as a child and left to the glossy black streets of Vide Noir, Mina struggles each day to stay alive. She has the city's grid memorized. She knows the First Watch's patrol routes and when the shopkeepers take their breaks. And, she has a secret weapon: Persuasion. With a few words, she can bend the will of the most stubborn to meet her desires.

When her friends are captured by the head of the thieves' guild, Mina is given a choice. She can watch her friends die, or she can help the guild pull off a dangerous heist: Break into the late Queen's bower and steal her ruby necklace during the night of the Winter's Feast.

Armed with nothing more than her skill at persuasion and a simple maid's uniform, Mina infiltrates the palace. Her hopes of success, however, are instantly dashed when she is discovered by none other than the Commander of the First Order, a man who protects the Kingdom's borders from the gathering darkness that threatens to destroy humanity.

For the first time in her life, Mina cannot talk her way out of her trouble.

Realizing Mina's ability to enchant her listeners, the Commander makes her a tempting offer. To avoid the hangman's noose, she must join him in the battle against the God of Darkness, whose sinister forces threaten to ravage Vide Noir and everything around it.
