For as long as he could remember, Kayden has always had, one parent. Jasmine had been the one to take care of him after his parents' death, and the only person to stay with him throughout his whole life. He loves her with all his heart, but there are some things about her that he can never wrap his head around. She's just always surrounded by this cloud of mystery.

She seems normal enough. She's average height, has red hair down to her knees, intensely orange irises, she exudes steam when she gets mad and can control fire to do her bidding. For him, this is all normal, and normality is the one thing he wants to cherish. It takes only one run in with an old friend of Jasmine's for his whole world to come crashing down. Her normally laid back and caring nature is replaced with a paranoid and reclusive mess. There's something about this friend of hers that Kayden doesn't trust, and he's going to prove that it's not just his imagination, even if it's the last thing he does.
