Mara and Ezra are a newly wed couple that has just decided to move across the country for a fresh start after they find out they can't have children. They decide to become foster parents because they cannot afford to pay an adoption fee at the moment. A sixteen year old boy named Elliott Barra and his eight year old little "brother" Matéo (Téo) Ortiz become their foster children. But what they didn't expect was for them to be so hurt.
Elliott had been tossed around like a piece of trash for as long as he could remember. Bouncing from foster home to foster home, he never really had a family, except for Téo. They met at a group home and he'd promised to stay with him and protect him forever. Even if it meant turning down opportunities to be placed in a good foster home.
